Starting Tuesday, Leon Court Clerk Opening Earlier, Closing Later

Starting on Tuesday, The Leon Co. Clerk of Courts office will open to the public an hour earlier and close an hour later. After facing a budget shortfall this year, court clerks’ offices across Florida now have the money they need to restore lost services.

County clerks faced a budget cut of about $30 million at the end of the legislative session. But Leon Co. Clerk Bob Inzer says, a legislative budget panel is letting them use money in a trust fund to cover the funding gap now.

“We’re extremely thankful for that, and so are our employees," he says. "And so we’re looking forward to getting back to business as usual with respect to providing superior service to the citizens of Leon County.”

He says, the restored funding could mean some clerks will rehire laid-off staff in addition to extending their hours. The Leon Co. Clerk of Courts will now be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
