South Florida Democrat Wants Vet Tax Relief

WTXL

Honorably discharged veterans could get a two-month break from sales taxes under a measure filed by Miami Democratic Representative Kionne  McGhee.

Qualifying veterans would get the break from November through December.

The tax breaks would apply to clothing and fitness equipment costing $100 or less, personal computer equipment costing $1,500 or less and books costing $50 or less.

The bill is filed for the 2018 session. McGhee made a similar attempt in the last legislative session, but it failed to get a hearing.
