So-Called Marriage Amendment Reaches Signature Threshold

Tallahassee, FL – Florida4Marriage held a press conference Thursday to announce that they had reached the 611,009 signatures needed to get on the Nov.8 ballot. If it makes it to the vote, the amendment would legally define marriage as the exclusive union between one man and one woman. But things get confusing when you talk about relationships that are legally similar to a marriage, but are not called that. John Stemberger is the state chairman for Florida4Marriage.

Well legally a marriage has a huge bundle of rights. A domestic partnership well, i'm not sure what it is, it differs in every state but she gets the right to bury her roommate, to visit her if she's sick...'

The amendment still faces approval from the Supreme Court to get on the Nov.8 ballot. For WFSU-FM, I'm Lynn Hatter.
