Seniors Enjoy a Holiday Luncheon

Tom Flanigan

Hundreds of Tallahassee senior citizens were treated to lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at the North Monroe Street Senior Center and the Smith Williams Service Center.

Delores Myrick who heads the Smith Williams Center Foundation greeted the many luncheon guests at that facility.

“Look at your neighbor and say, ‘I’m glad you’re here!’ she urged the crowd, which responded with enthusiasm.

Helping dish out the meals were Leon County Commission Chair Nick Maddox and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.

“This is the time of year we try to do our very best to show all parts of our community that they’re loved, appreciated and valued, especially our seniors who have given and contributed so much. They’ve put in the time and now it’s time for them to be taken care of,” Gillum remarked.

The luncheons at the Smith Williams and Senior centers were made possible by the City and the Honeywell Corporation.
