Rubio Heckled By Convention Protesters

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, a rising star in the Republican Party, is set to introduce presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney later in the week at the Republican National Convention. But Rubio had his own speech against President Obama interrupted several times by hecklers. Rubio was speaking to the Florida delegation during a breakfast at the Innisbrook Resort Tuesday, when protesters interrupted Rubio’s speech by yelling things like “Republicans are beholden to big corporations”.

“Apparently he stumbled into the wrong convention,” Rubio quipped at the interruption.

It appeared to be a well-planned raid by an unidentified group that planted themselves within the breakfast crowd of delegates. Rubio tried to continue his remarks about the failed promises of President Obama, but another protestor yelled out that the Republican Party isn’t doing enough for the working class.

While being escorted off the property, protestor Alicia Keller was confronted by Conventioneer Sharon Rousey.

“Are you a registered Republican?” Rousey asked. And Keller replied that she is. Rousey then said, “And you’re representing here on behalf of the Democratic Party and their platform?” To which Keller answered, “Yes.” And Rousey said, “very interesting, do us a favor and switch your party affiliation.”

It’s not clear how the hecklers were able to bypass the strict convention security but the six protesters were given warnings for trespassing and were escorted off the property.
