Capital Regional Medical Center CEO Alan Keesee says many of his hospital’s recent patients simply had no local hospital available to them because of Hurricane Michael.
"Both medical facilities in Panama City unfortunately were directly impacted by the storm," Keesee noted. "Those patients were evacuated from both facilities to hospitals all across the Panhandle. So far through 10 a.m. today (Thursday, 10/18) we’ve actually cared for 167 patients from Panama City.”
More of those patients are coming. Keesee said Capital Regional is admitting around an average of one patient per hour from the storm-affected areas west of Tallahassee.
