Tallahassee, FL – A power plant that would burn gasified garbage moved a step closer to reality for the City of Tallahassee this week. During his Brazilian trade mission, Governor Crist announced a 182-million dollar financing deal for the project. City Commissioner Debbie Lightsey says city officials are grateful for the help .
The City has a thirty-year contract with Jacksonville-based Green Power Systems for the just-over thirty megawatts of power the plant will produce. The City has a similar contract with another provider, B.G. & E., for power from a bio-mass fueled plant that's also in the planning stage.
