Leon County and Tallahassee now have the area’s first Economic Strategic Plan. The document will be used to guide economic development efforts in the community. Some have raised concerns that the plan may give the impression of a new set of permanent guidelines. But Commissioner Gil Ziffer says that’s not the case. He says the proposal is likely to change over time.
“No matter what we do and no matter what changes we make today, then they’ll read it that way and people will say, well wait a minute, does that put us there. It’s a living, breathing document in my opinion and I think staff has suggested that,” Ziffer says.
Board members also discussed a plan to conduct a study to learn more about which businesses to target for recruitment to the area.
