The Leon County School Board has launched an investigation into outgoing Superintendent Jackie Pons after photos and anonymous allegations were sent to the district and local media outlets, including WFSU.

The photos show the Superintendent getting into and out of a car with a female employee in a heavily wooded area.

School Board attorneys notified board members about the pictures and accompanying documents November second, and followed up with an email November 3. Tallahassee resident Cedric Benson also raised the issue that evening at a board meeting.

“Now the talk of the town, and I feel that we need to bring this to our superintendent—there’s a situation where now there’s literature circulating in town with Mr. Pons’s involvement with an employee of the county. That’s the concern," he said.

Board members including Pons, told Benson to bring his concerns to the district’s head of security or the board’s attorney.

In a statement the district says it has referred the matter to an outside group to investigate. Pons told the Tallahassee Democrat he believes once the review is done, quote “motivations will become clear.” The district says now that an investigation is open, it won’t have further comment.
