Leon County Prepares Eight Sandbag Stations

National Hurricane Center

Hurricane Hermine is expected to become a hurricane by the time it hits the Gulf Coast tonight. So, Leon County is giving out sandbags in eight official locations throughout Tallahassee.

Here's where to find them:

Each household is limited to 25 sandbags, according to the Leon County emergency information portal. Residents need to bring shovels to sandbag stations.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hermine is moving north-northeast at about 14 miles per hour. It's expected to hit the hurricane warning zone by Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Once it hits landfall, the NHC predicts Hermine will strengthen to become a hurricane.
