Leon County Humane Society Staffer Back On The Job

Well-respected Leon County Humane Society staffer Amy Raddar is back on the payroll. The move comes after the agency’s executive director quit under pressure.

Volunteers and donors have criticized Sabrina Rodriguez de Conte, saying she ignored and alienated them. Critics also voiced concerns about the administrator's lack of communication with the board. The last straw was the firing of longtime staffer Amy Raddar. Now Rodriguez De Conte is gone and Raddar has her job back.

“We talk to each other, we communicate well, we just take one change or one thing at a time and we work through that, we do the best, we do the very best we can. And always, always keeping the animals, you know that’s what it’s all about, never forgetting that,”  she said.

Raddar resumed her post Tuesday as dog foster program director. After a brief hiatus, she said she's ready to get back to work.

"When you believe in something that true then you tend to be all in you know what I'm saying? When you come to work you bring your 'A game' every day, and you know how important it is and you want to do good," she said.

The Humane Society has an interim director in Lisa Glunt, previously the non-profit's cat foster program coordinator. Board director Hella Spellman said the move "ensures stability for the organization as it advances its important mission." The board will have to initiate a search for the permanent position.
