The Leon County Board of County Commissioners will meet Tuesday for a final hearing to adopt the Fiscal Year 2018 final millage rates and budgets.
The board will hold a public hearing to adopt the proposed final property tax rate of about 8.8 mills. The rate has stayed the same for over five years. However, the budget will increase by 3 percent, which is only possible because property value keeps going up.
These rates were set back in the July 11 meeting and confirmed in September 26 at the public hearing. At the final hearing, members can only vote to lower the rates, not raise them. The board will be following a simple majority vote for adopting the budget.
