Leon County, City of Tallahassee To Hold 1 p.m. Briefing On Hurricane Irma

As Hurricane Irma nears Florida the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Government and emergency management officials will hold a 1 p.m. briefing today to provide updates.

The press conference will be carried live on WFSU 88.9 at 1 p.m.

Leon County is now within the three-day forecasted path of Hurricane Irma, and in a statement, officials say "now is the time to gather disaster supplies, check emergency plans and secure any resources needed to stay safe and informed during and after the storm."

Capital City preparations continue in advance of the storm. 

The local chapter of the American Red Cross has opened shelters for South Florida evacuees. It is located at Northwoods Baptist Church on 3762 Capital Circle NW.
