Leon County Calls For Citizen Advisory Committee Applications

Leon County is calling for residents to apply to fill vacancies on citizen advisory councils that give input to elected officials. Some of the roles require specific skills, while others are open to all residents.

The county has seven openings on councils that affect everything from schools to regional healthcare.

County agenda coordinator Christine Coble says applications are accepted through the county’s website. Many positions will remain open until filled.

“The reason why we have them is to help the Board of County Commissioners develop their Leon County programs and policies and to provide quality public services," she says.

In addition to the seven positions open now, more spots will open in September when current members’ terms expire. Coble says when groups decide whether to renew someone’s appointment, they must consider new applicants as well.

A  listing of committee vacancies and eligibility requirements is on Leon County’s website. And Coble says people who have questions can e-mail her at coblec@leoncountyfl.gov
