Legislature No Closer to Tax Cuts

Tallahassee, FL – Senators say the House reneged on a pre-session agreement when it passed a
bill giving businesses, landlords and snowbirds a cap similar to Save Our Homes. Senators refused to debate the proposal and went home. Now, Senate President Ken Pruitt says they won't come back until Monday, the
last day of the session. Speaker Marco Rubio responding to Pruitt's announcement, praised House members for their work. And House minority leader Dan Gelber says the added pressure of Monday's deadline could
break the stalemate at the Capitol.

"Sometimes you gotta wait for the train to be bearing down on you before you get off the tracks. Sometimes, if we're given 3 days or 20 days to do something it's going to be the last day no matter how long we have to do it".

Lawmakers have until October 30 to reach a compromise and place it before voters during the January presidential primary.
