Starting Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol is expected to step up its presence for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

As part of its annual “Arrive Alive” campaign, State troopers are reminding motorists to buckle up.

Thanksgiving is usually a peak travel period, and troopers will be on the roads through Sunday.

Last year, more than 10,000 crashes occurred in Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Only two percent of people involved in those crashes were not wearing seat belts. But, the Florida Highway Patrol says 60 people died as a result.
