Entering Stage Right, Sukhia Joins Congressional Race

James Clarke Ash

Former federal prosecutor Ken Sukhia announced Tuesday he’s jumping into the crowded race to succeed Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Graham.

Sukhia was appointed U.S. Attorney by President George H.W. Bush, and as a private attorney, represented George W. Bush in the presidential recount. Sukhia also went to court for former Governor Jeb Bush.

Standing in a park in downtown Tallahassee, Sukhia recounted courtroom victories against drug lords, child pornographers and abortion providers.

“I am the only candidate with a proven record, a lifetime record, of fighting on the front lines for conservative causes.”

Sukiah faces Panama City physician Neal Dunn, Tallahassee attorney Mary Thomas and Fort White businessman Jeff Moran in the August 30 Republican primary.

Graham is waiting for the outcome of a legal challenge to the newly drawn district before deciding whether to run.

A Miami native, former WFSU reporter Jim Ash is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience, most of it in print. He has been a member of the Florida Capital Press Corps since 1992.
