Early Voting Starts Monday

Oct 21, 2016

Early voting in Leon County begins Monday and runs through Sunday November 6th. Any registered voter may cast their ballot at seven different locations throughout Tallahassee, including the county courthouse, and at various public library branches. Leon County Supervisor of Elections Ion Sancho says residents can find more information in their voting guide.

“Check our official voting guide for locations and times. We have sent one of those out to every one of the 200,000 plus individuals now registered in Leon County,” Sancho said.

Voters in Wakulla, Gadsden and Jefferson Counties may also begin voting Monday.

Sancho is also assuring citizens the local voting process will run safely and smoothly. Sancho’s comment comes as presidential candidate Donald Trump is questioning the integrity of the elections process. Trump is also encouraging his supporters to monitor polling places for possible voter fraud. But Sancho says the allegations are a political ploy and completely unfounded.

“For example we have fifty-five democratic poll watchers that have signed up to ensure that the early voting process works properly. At this point we have two Trump early voting poll watchers. I think that says it all,” Sancho said.

Sancho says he doesn’t anticipate any problems at the polls, and dismisses the possibility of a rigged election.
