The Florida Department of Environmental Protection wants you to take a selfie the next time you recycle and post it on the department's Facebook page.
Millennials are notorious fans of selfies – or photos taken of one’s self. But it turns out they’re not quite as avid about recycling. Studies show millennials are less likely to recycle than baby boomers. DEP Spokeswoman Mara Burger says the goal of the selfie challenge is to use a little social media peer pressure to encourage more recycling, and also to help people find the department’s new facebook page. Officials kicked the challenge off Wednesday and Burger says the first submissions are already coming in.
Florida State Parks passes are up for grabs for randomly selected winners. The challenge ends November 25th. November 15th is America Recycles Day. November 18th is Florida Recycles day.
