Bee keepers and jam purveyors may soon be able to take their business to the internet. Brandon Republican Senator Tom Lee is pushing a measure to expand where members of the cottage food industry can hock their wares

“These are goods with a very low health safety risk that can be stored at room temperature including breads, honey, cookies and other fattening things. Cottage foods must be produced in the residence of the cottage food operator,” Lee said.

The bill also increases the annual sales limited allowed for cottage food operators. The measure is scheduled for a discussion the Senate Commerce and tourism committee Monday. Meanwhile, the House is expected to take up a similar measure on the full floor Tuesday.
