Tallahassee, Fl – The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act is attached to a massive defense bill that is still in negotiations in Congress. A vote is expected after Labor Day. Most individual states already have laws regarding hate crimes, including Florida. Now there is a push to have homeless people added to the list of those needing special protections.
