Commissioners To Consider Reducing Transportation Planning Agency Board

Leon County Commissioners are scheduled to consider a change to the Capital Region Transportation Planning Agency during their regular Tuesday meeting.

Currently seven of the Transportation Planning Agency board members are Leon County Commission appointees. But commissioners are considering a plan that would revise that number down to four. Commissioners have talked about having difficulty in general finding enough people to serve on commission advisory boards. Commissioner Kristen Dozier said that’s due in part to a change that imposed term limits.

"We know it’s important to engage a lot of different perspectives and voices from the community. No comment on the past commitment by great volunteers. We just need to keep people coming through. It helps us learn more from their perspective, but it helps engage more people,” Dozier said.

The change at the transportation planning agency board would increase the weight of each member’s vote.
