CARRIE BROWNSTEIN writes and stars on the sketch comedy series Portlandia, along with Fred Armisen. Portlandia has won numerous awards and a loyal following. Well before her television debut, Brownstein rose to prominence in the mid-90's as founder of the rock band Sleater-Kinney. A seminal band in the “riot girl” movement, Sleater-Kinney fused radical feminism with explosive punk. Brownstein was vocalist and lead guitar until the band went on indefinite hiatus in 2006.
