Capital Report: 07-03-2015

The American Civil Liberties Union and the state of Florida are locked in a fight over a new abortion waiting period provision.  So how does the law stack up to restrictions in other states?  Nick Evans has more.

As more people gain insurance under the Affordable Care Act, they’ve been running into problems with medications and finding doctors. Now as Lynn Hatter reports, an old practice--one put in place to address the rising cost of medications, is becoming increasingly burdensome for doctors, patients and pharmacists.

The state’s court system will be a top priority next year in Florida’s criminal justice budget. As Sascha Cordner reports, that’s what a group of Florida lawmakers has vowed to do.

As we’ve already heard, the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is staggering under $73-billion in debt.  The island’s governor is giving a speech today to announce it’s unpayable.  As we hear from member station WLRN in Miami’s Americas Editor Tim Padgett, that could have a significant impact in Florida; especially South Florida.
