Florida’s counties say the state owes them money. They claim they’ve been overcharged for helping pay the cost of juveniles in detention centers. Lynn Hatter reports the two sides appear close to reaching a deal on how to split the costs going forward—but a conflict is brewing over whether the state should have to reimburse the counties for past expenses.

Lawmakers have filed more than 100 bills that would let officials keep certain information out of the public record. And so far experts say as many as two-dozen are on track to pass. But Regan McCarthy reports a handful of bills to create a **more** open government appears to be stalling.

A measure aimed at regulating Florida’s parasail industry is heading to the House floor. But, as Sascha Cordner reports, the newly expanded bill almost became collateral damage, after an initial attempt to pass the bill in its last committee failed. 

For years, Florida’s craft beer brewers have been pushing to do away with a law that keeps them from selling beer in certain sized containers.  But, as Jessica Palombo reports, a Senate bill that does away with that restriction also adds a different rule brewers say could hurt their booming business.

A trip to the dentist can be a scary thing.  But for people without the means to obtain dental care, the results can be even scarier.  Lottie Watts with member station WUSF in Tampa reports on a campaign to bring dental care to the people who need it most.
