C-Span Bus Makes Tallahassee Visit

Tom Flanigan

C-Span’s brand new bus is now making stops in the capital cities of all 50 states.  This week, Florida's Capital City gets its turn.

The big bus’s first stop was Tuesday (12/5) morning at Godby High School where teacher Steve Stanquist brought his government class on board.

“When I was talking to them today, most of them aren’t even aware of what C-Span is, now they’re getting a feel for like, ‘Okay, I can be in touch with government and what’s going on,’” he remarked as the students perused all the C-Span content available on the bus's multiple screens.  Speaking with the students on the bus was C-Span’s Janae Green, who is no stranger to this area.

“My family’s from Tallahassee and Quincy so I feel back at home. My grandmother lives 5 minutes from here and my dad’s a Quincy native,” she smiled.

After Tuesday’s stops at Godby and Cobb Middle School, Green said Wednesday’s schedule includes an actual C-Span broadcast.

“We will be at the Capital doing a live interview with the Speaker of the House from 9:45 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. that will be live on our Washington Journal morning show.”

The bus will wind up its Tallahassee visit from noon until one Wednesday at Florida A&M University.‘
