Ben Pingree Tapped For New Post As EDC And Chamber Split

Leon County Economic Development Council

Leon County’s Economic Development Council may have split off from its long-time affiliation with the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, but its vice president has landed a new job with the City of Tallahassee and Leon County.

The EDC's Ben Pingree  has been tapped to take over the joint Department of Planning, Land Management and Community Development, which also oversees Blueprint 2000. For all intents and purposes, the EDC was severed from the Chamber during Thursday’s Chamber Board meeting.

That morning, Pingree announced his resignation as the Council’s executive vice president. By the afternoon, Tallahassee City Manager Rick Fernandez and Leon County Administrator Vince Long had announced Pingree would take over the joint organization that had been headed by Wayne Tedder.

His new job is assistant city manager in charge of Tallahassee’s Department of Development Services and Economic Vitality. Pingree’s first day in his new job will be February 1st.
