Arbor Day Event Invites Residents To Put Down Some Roots

Jan 21, 2014

Tallahassee will celebrate Florida’s Arbor Day this Saturday with three local agencies teaming up to host a tree planting at the J. R. Alford greenway.  Leon County Parks and Recreation Director Leigh Davis says the event is a way for residents to feel they’re a lasting part of the community.

“Bring your shovels, and gloves and water, the great part is the holes are already pre-dug so it shouldn’t take too long, and we’d love for everybody to come out and just get a sense of this beautiful park, and the project, and you can say you had a part of history as the trees get big” Leigh said.

Participants will plant more than 100 live oaks that will grow to form a colonnade over the park’s entrance.  Further information can be found here.
