With 450 Registered, DL Clinic Adds Another Day

Leon County Judge Layne Smith

Some 450 Big Bend residents have already signed up for a July 7 driver’s license restoration clinic, prompting organizers to add another day  in October.

Leon County Judge Layne Smith says officials will try to process as many applicants as possible before the event. Smith says applicants may be able to swap community service for fines.

“There’s some people we can help before July 7th and even get their license back potentially before July 7th, so that they don’t have to wait until then to come in. But the idea is, we’re going to have to cap the number of people we can see July 7th.”

Judges, public defenders, prosecutors, court clerks and Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle employees will be at the Leon County Court Annex on Thomasville Road on both days.
