A Democratic leader Wednesday called Governor Rick Scott’s decision to fire the state’s top law enforcement officer a quote “miserable example of bad government.”

The blistering public attack was unusually personal, even for a member of the loyal opposition.

Sen. Arthenia Joyner’s verbal assault raised eyebrows during the Associated Press’s annual pre-session briefing at the Florida Capitol. The Tampa Democrat also referred to the millions of dollars Scott poured into his election from his personal fortune.

Bill To Bend Hotel Age Requirements For Military Members

Lawmakers are looking to the hospitality industry for help reaching the state’s new goal of making Florida the most military friendly state. A bill would require hotels to bend rules for military members who otherwise wouldn’t be old enough to book a room.

Rep. Bill Hager (R-Delray Beach) says his bill shows members of the military Florida supports them.

Grandma Who Killed Her Grandson Deemed Competent To Stand Trial

A 63-year-old woman arrested in August for the murder of her grandson has been deemed competent to stand trial.

Martha White, of Killearn Lakes, was arrested August 5th, 2014. She was found covered in blood and in possession of a bottle of wine and Xanax. Police say she had murdered her six-year-old grandson. She was quoted by police saying she was, “fed up” with her grandson’s mother, who White said had spent years torturing her.
