A community project to provide healthy meals to thousands of low-income kids and families in the Big Bend happens June 1^st at Tallahassee’s St. Johns Episcopal Church. To speak about it are: Scott Bonnel with Hope2theHungry; Father Dave Killeen from St. Johns; and Paul Clements with Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

Stroke is now the nation’s fourth most common killer, but recent advancements in medical science have greatly improved stroke treatment, recovery and prevention. On the panel to talk about it: Stroke Survivor Doug Wright; and from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, Von Knight, Stroke Coordinator; Neurologist Dr. Siddarth Sehghal ; and Sheree Porter, rehabilitation program manager.

The 13^th Annual LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival is this weekend (April 20-21) in downtown Tallahassee. On hand to talk about it and the community’s artistic endeavors are: LeMoyne Board Member Kelly Dozier and Executive Director Ann Kozeliski; Tallahassee City Commissioner Gil Ziffer; and festival artists Gustavo, Randy Brienan and Quincie Hamby.

Two units within the United Way of the Big Bend are helping community partner organizations teach kids how to read and both children and adults handle money better. R.J. Gillum is in the charge of the BEST Program that focuses on financial literacy and Courtenay Garcia handles the Reading Pals program.
