The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host the 2017 Tallahassee MS On the Move Luncheon on Thursday, September 28th at the FSU University Center Club. The event, hosted by WCTV’s Julie Montanaro, will feature networking, local artisan craft fair, Peterbrooke chocolate, raffle baskets featuring local merchant items, and an inspirational and educational program on a wellness initiative called oMS Yoga. oMS Yoga was founded in 2012 by Cheryl Russell, who lives with multiple sclerosis (MS), and Dr. Megan Weigel, a nurse practitioner who specializes in the care of people living with MS. After a brief introduction at a National MS Society luncheon where they shared their desires to teach yoga to people living with MS, Cheryl and Megan ran into each other a year later at a yoga Master Class. It just so happened that Megan placed her yoga mat right behind Cheryl’s. When they saw each other, they simply said, “so, are we going to do this?” The next day, Megan wrote a grant to the North Florida Chapter of the National MS Society. Fast forward almost 5 years, and oMS Yoga, now a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, to bring free yoga to people living with MS. The vision of oMS yoga is to awaken potential, empower confidence, and inspire possibilities, through yoga, in the lives of people living with MS. Learn more about oMS yoga at www.omsyoga.org The luncheon will begin at 11:30am and will conclude at 1pm. Table sponsorships start at $500.
