The old book-and-dust libraries of the 20th century are becoming obsolete. In their place, stands the 21st century version- libraries filled with computers, DVD's, wellness centers, even government access information to agencies like the Department of Children and Families and community outreach services- services that, say Charlie Parker, president of the Florida Library Association, are essential to the community.

Tallahassee, FL – Wednesday's rally at Bond Community Health Center brought many Leon County organizations together. Barbara DeVane is secretary of the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans. She is an avid supporter of the bill.

Another supporter is Rabbi Jack Romberg, of Temple Israel, and a member of the Tallahassee Equality Action Ministry.

Fort Benning, GA – Under the gray morning sky 25,000 have gathered outside the gates of Fort Benning, Georgia. They carry white crosses, each cross scrawled with a name.

As the procession begins, crowds move slowly forward to place their crosses on the military base's barbed-wire topped gate. The crosses represent those who have allegedly been killed by graduates of the School of the Americas, or SOA, a U.S. Army training facility for Latin American soldiers.

Tallahassee, FL – Monday's meeting of the Big Bend Consumer Coalition heard a prevention proposal from the Leon County Court Mental Health Advisory Council. Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Sjostrom spoke to the coalition about establishing a mental health court.

Also included in the proposal is a training program for law enforcement officers. Kendra Brown is the Court Mental Health Coordinator.

Tallahassee, FL – Tuesday the university announced that those rumors are true. Dr. James Ammons, FAMU's president, announced the changes in the athletics department at a press conference.

The university has launched a nation-wide search to replace Townsend and Carter. Ammons wants the positions filled by the end of the year. In the meantime, Allen Bogan, a 30-year vet of the coaching staff, will serve as interim director of Athletics. Ammons says the decision to let Townsend and Carter go was made through careful evaluation of the athletics program.

Tallahassee, FL – Florida moved its primary to January 29- violating the Feb. 5 date set by both National Republican and Democratic Parties. As a result, the democrats stripped Florida of its delegates to the national convention and the republicans cut the Florida delegation in half.

So, Florida democrats filed suit against the DNC claiming that its decision to have no Florida representation is unfair and disenfranchises voters. That suit is pending.

Ariana Marciano is adding to her collection of about 75 tattoos at the Body Electric Tattoo and Piercing Studio on trendy Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. "I think they're so cool and I think they're visually really nice to look at," she says. There's a ram's head, an elk, a green-and peach colored praying mantis, a love bug and a moth. Today she's getting a ladybug.

"I love bugs," Marciano, 23, says. "I think they're kind of overlooked." In about 20 minutes, with dots on its back and a bit of rusty orange, a small ladybug takes its place on her elbow.

Earlier this year, when Emily Chodos was about 25 weeks into her pregnancy, she woke up one night feeling horrible.

"My hands were tremoring, my heart racing, " recalls Chodos, who lives near New Haven, Conn. She couldn't take a deep breath. "I'd never felt so out of control of my body."

She ended up paging her obstetrician's office at 4 a.m., and one of the midwives in the practice, after listening to her symptoms, said, "It sounds like you're having a panic attack."

A narrow majority of Americans don't trust President Trump to handle the conflict with North Korea, according to a new NPR/Ipsos poll.

The findings come as the president and his diplomatic team prepare for the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, where North Korea's renegade nuclear program will be a major focus.
