Tallahassee, FL – Florida moved its primary to January 29- violating the Feb. 5 date set by both National Republican and Democratic Parties. As a result, the democrats stripped Florida of its delegates to the national convention and the republicans cut the Florida delegation in half.

So, Florida democrats filed suit against the DNC claiming that its decision to have no Florida representation is unfair and disenfranchises voters. That suit is pending.

Tallahassee, FL – O'Shea has amassed a pretty impressive resume as a college senior. He founded a free health clinic in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. He sits on the FSU Board of Trustees. Earlier in the year he was named as a Truman Scholar and now it seems he's struck gold with the Rhodes scholarship. FSU announced his award Monday morning.

Tallahassee, FL – A day before the US Department of Interior's third deadline, Governor Charlie Crist approved a deal with the Seminole Tribe of Florida to allow Las Vegas-style slots at Indian casinos.

Under the deal, the tribe is allowed to operate Las Vegas-style slot machines and card games such as blackjack and baccarat at its seven casinos on tribal lands, Mitchell Cypress is the Chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Tallahassee, FL – After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death of 14-year old Martin Lee Anderson, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum says his office has exhausted its legal options and can do no more.

But I am very supportive and will continue to be pressing for whatever appropriate sanctions that may be involved, in order that the end to this be resolved in a way that the parents particularly want to see that those that are involved are appropriately disciplined.

Tallahassee, FL – On any given day in Florida there are over 40,000 people under correctional supervision who are severely mentally ill. This, says Judge Steven Leifman, is an issue that Florida needs to address now.

To get the policy makers talking, Leifman and other members of the Mental Health Subcommittee and Workgroup put together a proposal for restructuring the state's mental health system.

Tallahassee, FL – The Hometown Democracy amendment would require a referendum by voters before a
county change its comprehensive plan. Supporters say it is to easy to amend the long-range planning document. But opponents argue it is not practical to hold referendums for every land use change. To prove their point they printed up what they said last year's
Orange City Ballot would have looked liked if Hometown was law. Three columns of
land use proposals spread across 45 pages.

Florida's legislative session has begun and several issues are expected to arise during this year's lawmaking session.

The Fox News Channel has retracted a week-old story based on a groundless conspiracy theory involving the death of a staffer for the Democratic National Committee, conceding it did not meet the network's standards.

During papal audiences with heads of state, the exchange of gifts comes after the private encounter and at the end of the event. It offers the pool reporters a chance to witness the body language of the two leaders and listen in as they explain their gifts.

It also offers a glimpse into what the two leaders think of each other.

President Trump had an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican's Apostolic Palace on Wednesday, receiving messages about peace, the environment and immigrants from the religious leader. The meeting came a year after the pope suggested that Trump "is not Christian" because of his plan for a U.S-Mexico border wall.
